Our Story 🌊
Edge Way Surf was born out of friendship, passion, and the love for Arugam Bay.\
Edge Way Surf began with the journey of Walith, a true son of the sea, born and raised right here in the coastal village of Arugam Bay. From his school days, surfing wasn’t just a hobby it was his passion. While most students chased textbooks, Walith chased waves.
After completing his A/Ls (Advanced Level), Walith started working at a local surf shop, repairing surfboards. It was during those hands-on years that his curiosity turned into commitment. With no formal surf lessons available back then, he taught himself the art of surfing watching, practicing, failing, and trying again.
Now, with 10+ years of experience, Walith has gone from board repair guy to respected local surf instructor.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Rifky, also from Arugam Bay, was busy in a different wave the digital wave. A creative mind with a passion for tech, Rifky built over 20 websites for local surf schools, shops, and hotels to help them grow online. As he worked closely with the community, an idea sparked:
“Why don’t we start a surf school that offers everything surfing, digital service, photography all under one roof?”
Although Rifky had no surfing experience, he had the vision. So he partnered with Walith as the surf instructor and brought in Ahath, a well-known surf photographer in Arugam Bay, to capture the stoke.
That’s how Edge Way Surf was born a locally rooted surf school built by three passionate individuals with one mission:
To provide world-class surf experiences and full support for anyone visiting Arugam Bay from surf lessons to digital help to unforgettable memories.
Today, we are more than a surf school. We are a crew, a family, and a community-driven brand that believes in passion, purpose, and pushing the edge.
